Civil War issue. Standard pattern. See The American Sword, Peterson #10. 32" single edged blade with U S / A H /1863 (inspector Andrew Harwood). Reverse appears to have very light, typical, Ames maker’s mark, obscured by surface oxidation. Blade with smooth gray patina and superficial staining only. Very slight distortion near the point, negligible. Hilt with storage surface soiling and age patina. Excellent representative Civil War example as carried by sergeants.
