Peterson #41. 32” curved broad fullered blade in bright original polish. Two tiny edge nicks toward the middle. Brass hilt with the issue number. Wire wrapped leather covered grip in excellent preservation. Polished steel scabbard excellent for the period. Unmarked, this example was one of about 2900 1840 Light Artillery swords imported during the Civil. All were made in Germany and nearly all imported by New York dealers.
