The U A O D grew out of the Ancient Order of Druids, (founded London 1781) in the first half of the 19th century. It was established in America by 1830 and grew through 1920s. Now defunct, Winston Churchill was a member. The sword hilt and scabbard mounts finely modeled including harp and skull and crossed bones, and heavily gold overlaid. Black japanned grip. 28" straight d.e. blade. Rare.
