C.1740-70 and type carried by American troops during the Revolution. Finely made iron head, 6 ¼” height with oval eye and slightly curved diamond section back spike. See American Indian Tomahawks, Peterson #65, and #75 for related examples, both predating 1770. Note that author states that #75 is “very similar to one carried by a colonial soldier during the French and Indian War”. This example is distinguished by its crisp condition, retaining near all of its original blued/black finish which is exceptionally rare for tomahawks. The handle is later. About as fine as they come.
