Pattern identical to Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, #S.11. Brass hilt with thickened edge symmetrical shell guards flanking a globular quillon. Spirally fluted grip and integral pommel. 24” curved single edged blade with narrow back fuller, unmarked. One of the variations of early infantry hangers evolved after the War of Spanish Succession and going into the French and Indian War which ultimately were standardized and in modern times, identified as the 1742 and 1751 patterns. This example probably served in the French and Indian War (1754-63) and later, in the American Revolution.
