Small example, just 2 1/8” diameter to fit the waistcoat pocket. Black japanned papier-mâché. The lid inlaid with foliate pewter border and central naturalistic floral with leaves, buds and flowers. The bottom with a single flower en suite. Not worn and few very minor blemishes, insignificant for the period. Remnants of original snuff. See Neumann page 245 & 246 for related examples.
