Mid 18th century, forged iron 5 ½” length. Hinged tapered arms with domed terminal axle. Purchased in York Pennsylvania in 1966 while visiting Joe Kindig, who was reputed to own half of the existent Pennsylvania Long Rifles. Used to transfer dimensions, such as for fittings (trigger guard etc.) to the stock for inletting. Stable rust overall.
