Revolutionary War period or before. 2 7/8” length of figured burl maple. The top and bottom line bordered. The front with a square inlay. The inside lined with cow horn. One bottom corner irregular, evidently from a blemish or knot in the wood. These were used to carry snuff or pipe tobacco interchangeably.
