Pattern adopted as standard in 1792 after serving from at least the 1750’s, French and Indian Wars. See Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, 109.PA for an American made copy dated C.1775-80. Medially ridge leaf shaped point with screw base and ball tipped cross bar. Banded conical socket with short cheek straps. 96” length with original iron base shoe. The haft has been cut in the past for shipping with a dowel for rejoining. The seam is very inconspicuous. The dowel is a little loose and needs expansive glue, perhaps Gorilla Glue for a tight joint. The alignment may be preserved with wood splints, rubber banded above and below the joint while the adhesive is curing. Rarely available in full length with the base mount intact.
