He went on to become Chief Justice of Ceylon implementing many reforms including abolishing slavery and brought Ceylonese cultural arts to Britain. He was knighted by Queen Victoria. By Henry Fisher 1821. A copy of this lithograph is used to illustrate the Wikipedia entry for Johnston and a copy is in the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland.
