|
Item Number: 09-912
Civil
War Soldiers Ring found around the Gettysburg Battlefield. It was
common practice for soldiers to remove their rings before a battle to
avoid snagging. Many fell from the pockets and were commonly found
among personal effects recovered. In most cases, it is impossible to
distinguish Confederate from Union. These were purchased from "relic
shacks" near the battlefield in the 1960's and 1970's.
Gettysburg. Copper, size 7 3/4. Plain band flared to raised rectangular top flanked by chevrons hand engraved with hatch work. Lovely patina. Probably Confederate and gold plated originally.Layaway is available for this item."
