ASHANTI SLAVERS SWORD C.1850-70
|
|
Item Number: 07-1012
Fine fighting knife
proportions as found with bowie knives in North America. 14 1/4
clipped point blade struck with the archangel mark of Needham, Veall
& Tayzack, recorded in Sheffield from 1865-1925. The lack of other
marks, of which there are 14 for that maker, relegates this example to
the earliest period of production, about 1870. Two piece horn grip cut
by its owner with a recess and bound with copper trade wire wrap.
Original leather scabbard well worn with medial crease damage and tip
worn off. Blade shows smooth mottled gray patina with crisp mark. Grip
and wrap VG plus for the period.
Layaway is available for this item.
