This rapier is typical in form for its period but distinguished by the finely chiseled decoration including the inner guard. Scrolling foliage and strawberry textured hearts fill the primary fields with delicate reeding to the lineal elements. The original blackened finish is preserved throughout. The blade is decorated with birds, military figures and and inscription, Anno Domi, 1661, SOLI DEO GLORIA, Pro divis et patria, FIDI SED CUI VIDE.
