Vikings settled in Yorkshire about 866 and eventually settled more than half of England-that portion known as Daneland. We acquired Viking artifacts in the 1980s when the excavations at Gotland and York expanded our knowledge of the subject exponentially. Viking items are our most popular gift items and each is accompanied by certification of authenticity. 5 1/2" length with characteristic clipped point. Fully developed example of the form most often identified with Vikings and dating to the late 10th-11th century. This is a weapon used for hand to hand combat, distinguished from utility knives (tools) not only by form but the fact that these are not found deformed from sharpening.
