Pattern used through the Civil War and continued until the present. Gilt hilt with dolphin head quillon and oak foliage pierced guard with USN in ribbon. Wire wrapped shark skin covered grip. 28 7/8 straight s.e. blade finely etched first 2/3 with military trophies, USN, eagle, fouled anchor and foliage. Blank owners name panel. Gilt rope motif mounts to the black leather scabbard. Hilt and mounts in bright original gold. Scabbard leather excellent. Grip complete and slightly soiled. Blade bright with a few transverse scratches at the forte.
