Distinctive form with incised horn grip flanked by symmetrical guard and pommel, each of geometrically tooled brass with applied base band. Matching brass scabbard mounts with tack decorated fabric covered medial. 13 s.e blade, based on the French bayonet. Shows dark patina with a little scattered pitting. The mounts with some abrasions and the scabbard tip damaged, otherwise very good for the period. Displaying its unique blend of African, European and Omani influence. Glossy surface.
