Of Makara form with bronze hilt terminating in the dragon head. The 4 1/4 two wave iron blade representing the serpentine body. The hilt sand cast in perfunctory detail.
Well forged blade. Dark patina throughout and showing wear from use. The Makara is the vehicle of Ganga the River Goddess and was worshiped in South India from the Middle Ages.
The use of its image as a weapon draws upon its power, derived from Ganga, for enhanced performance and thus, lethal quality.
