Type which evolved with the French Revolution and Napoleons rise to power. 31 5/8 concave faced triangular blade uniformly tapering to its point providing a perfect thrusting weapon capable of penetrating the padded waist coats of the period. Iron hilt with thickened edge quadralobed guard, rudimentary arms, oval section knuckle bow and olive form pommel. Wire wrapped grip. Hilt blackened throughout, probably to decrease visibility in the dimly lit streets. About 85% blackening remaining. Grip complete. Blade crisp with mottled smooth staining.
