ENGLISH INFANTRY SABER C.1750.

Classic example of this form, Neumann 160.S which was standardized with minor modifications in 1796.  This example showing the early form with solid (not hinged) slightly asymmetrical guard.  Faceted urn form pommel.  Copper wire wrapped grip.  27 5/8" straight s.e. blade unmarked, shows original polish with some scattered smooth black spotting and scattered pitting toward the point, consistent with its age and use.  Original red cloth blade seat.  Hilt shows dark mottled patina.  The small back quillon lacking as frequently encountered.  One of the most iconic swords of the French & Indian Wars as well as the Revolution.
