Archaeological evidence shows that Vikings wore elaborate gilt bronze clothing ornaments and fasteners, evidently forsaking buttons entirely. As most such fittings were adorned with mystical symbols, the result must have been stunning. The attendant noise which the fittings made served further to draw attention to the imposing figures, much like the elaborate silver fittings and ornaments worn by cowboys. #661-#667 are Viking belt fittings. The studded waist, shoulder and sword belts provided a measure of protection from cutting. Copper rich bronze alloy. Abstracted heart shape with incised decoration. Excellent with both back prongs intact.
