|
Item Number: 10-562
Large example, 16 1/4 dia., domed form with forward turned edge, pierced with hanging hole as it was forbidden to lay a shield down. Four fine heavy brass bosses with scalloped edges decorated with a band of concentric circles and banded base high domed centers. These made of heavy worked brass rather than formed from sheet as usually encountered. The entire body with heavy black lacquer (true lacquer which required months to cure) in and out. Reverse with embroidered edge knuckle pad and plain cloth grips on iron rings. Finish near 100% complete with some chips/wear to the leading edge from use and handling. Not warped or cracked as frequently encountered. The best example we have offered in years.
