75 1/2" length. The haft made from the trunk of a conifer, hewn to circular section with especially long octagonal head with plain hewn transition. Heavy iron top ring held captive by two spikes. Forged triangular fore spike and heavy pyramidal spikes set randomly to the head. Classic arsenal preservation with rich glossy patina to the wood, with some open lineal shrinkage cracks. The bottom inch slightly deteriorated from floor contact. The iron, never painted, retains its original forged finish mixed with polished finish, owing its preservation to having been untouched in storage for centuries. Unusually large head and heavy proportions throughout.
